Learning to Carry Today's Responsibilities Without Borrowing Tomorrow's
Hi! Coach J here!
Welcome! Welcome! Welcome!
Last week, we began July by talking about what it truly means to support our growth. Not just through the goals we accomplish... or the work we complete...
But through the way we care for ourselves after the day is done. We reminded ourselves that our pillows were never meant to become meeting rooms.
We challenged ourselves to notice when our minds were carrying conversations, responsibilities, and worries long after the day had ended.
And together, we began protecting something we often overlook... our peace.
As I reflected on last week's conversation, another question came to mind... Even after we've logged off...
Why do so many of us continue carrying tomorrow before it ever arrives?
Maybe we've closed the laptop. Maybe we've left work. Maybe we've finished today's responsibilities. Yet somehow...
Tomorrow is already asking for today's attention. Or perhaps... we're the ones handing it over.
I decided to make July a special series... a "support" series. So, this week, for week two, I'd like for us to explore what it looks like to support our growth by
leaving tomorrow where it belongs. Because today's peace deserves the chance to simply be today's peace.
~ Quote of the Week ~
"Preparation helps us move forward. Carrying tomorrow before it arrives only weighs us down."
Remember... Steady, but forward.
>> Tomorrow Doesn't Need to Arrive Early
Have you ever noticed how easy it is to spend today thinking about tomorrow?
Maybe it's tomorrow's workload.
Tomorrow's meeting.
Tomorrow's responsibilities.
Tomorrow's conversations.
Or even tomorrow's "what ifs."
Before the day is over, our minds have quietly left today behind.
Planning for tomorrow isn't the problem, and preparation can be helpful. Responsibility is also important.
The challenge begins when tomorrow quietly steals today's peace.
There's a difference between preparing for tomorrow... And carrying tomorrow before it's time.
< One helps us move forward.
> The other leaves us mentally exhausted before the day is even over.
>> A Gentle Question Worth Asking
Whenever you notice your mind racing ahead, try asking yourself: "Does this belong to today?"
It's such a simple question... But it can create so much clarity. Not everything asking for your attention actually belongs to today.
Some conversations belong to tomorrow. Some decisions belong to tomorrow. Some responsibilities belong to tomorrow. And that's okay.
Tomorrow deserves the opportunity to arrive in its own time.
>> Supporting the Person You're Becoming
Supporting your growth isn't only about what you accomplish. Sometimes it's about what you choose not to carry.
Supporting your growth looks like:
• Finishing today before living in tomorrow.
• Trusting that tomorrow will arrive when it's supposed to.
• Allowing yourself to experience today without constantly rehearsing what's next.
• Choosing presence over unnecessary pressure.
Growth isn't only something we work toward. It's also something we learn to support.
Supporting your growth isn't just about moving forward. It's also about knowing when it's okay to leave something where it belongs.
>> Tomorrow Will Still Be There
One interesting thing about tomorrow is... It has a way of arriving right on time. It doesn't need us to carry it there.
The meeting can wait.
The email can wait.
The decision can wait.
The "what ifs" can wait.
Tomorrow isn't asking us to solve it by night.
Sometimes, the most supportive thing we can do for ourselves is trust that we'll meet tomorrow with fresh perspective, renewed energy, and the capacity to handle what comes.
When tomorrow becomes today... We'll be ready.
This Week's ChallengeThis week...
Whenever you notice yourself mentally living in tomorrow... Pause for just a moment.
Ask yourself:
"Does this need my attention today... or is this something tomorrow can hold?"
If it belongs to tomorrow... Practice leaving it there.
Not because it isn't important... But because today deserves your presence, too.
Coach J's Final Thoughts:One of the greatest ways we can support our growth is by trusting that every day deserves the opportunity to stand on its own.
Today's responsibilities are enough for today. Tomorrow's will arrive soon enough.
You don't have to borrow tomorrow's worries to be prepared for tomorrow's opportunities.
As we continue moving through July together, I hope we keep discovering that growth isn't only about moving forward... It's also about learning what we no longer have to carry.
Not hurriedly.
Not perfectly.
But...
Steady, but forward.
~ Join Me This Wednesday ~

The conversation doesn't end here!
Join me this Wednesday for #TruceWithinWednesday, where we'll pause, reflect, and continue supporting the person we're becoming—one step at a time.
I hope you'll take a few moments to join me.
In closing...
I hope the remainder of your week is as amazing as you are. As always... Be kind to yourself and others this week!
Until next time...!
